“The first ten thousand words you write will be rubbish,” or so my grad school class has been told. This blog has been set up as a way to catalogue and chronicle the rubbish that I produce, so at the end of two years, I can sit back with my degree in hand and feel superior to my past self.
As a student of Media and Cultural Studies at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Bombay, most of the writing on this blog will attempt to be academic, and will look at power, discourse, the self, and the other. As a feminist, most of the writing will attempt to be sensitive to my own understanding of this line of thought. As an Indian, most of the writing will attempt to situate itself within the socio-political context.
As a barely-aware grad student with too much work and too little time, most of the writing will, in fact, be rubbish.
